A Yantra is a diagrammatic representation of a Mantra, which as a sound-expression conjures up the vision of the deity meditated upon. Yantra is a Talisman, a mystical diagram.

A Yantra is not only a diagrammatic form of the deity but also a symbolic idol. In fact, it is a 'Divya-Yaana' (divine Vehicle) or a dwelling of the gods who live on the higher planets as well as on the Earth.

There are four kinds of Yantra:

1. Aakritimoolaka Diagrammatic (by making a figure or an image)

2. Beejmantragarbhita Written (or beset with Seed-Mantras, the code words)

3. Ankgarbhita Numeric (by putting numbers in them)

4. Rekhatmika Geometric (like a triangle, a circle or a square, etc.)

In writing of Yantras one should be very careful regarding the pen, paper, ink, place, day, month, time, direction, nakshtra (asterism) etc. When we draw a Yantra, we must write the related mantra under it.

The most powerful and magical Yantra is the Sri Yantra. It is called the celestial abode of Mahalaxmi, the goddess of wealth and devotion-

Yantras are classified into these Shatkarmas (six practices):

1. Shanti-karma : To pacify someone.

2. Stambhan-karma : To check someone or something where it is.

3. Uchattan-karma : To put someone's mind at unrest or to let not sleep him.

4. Vashikaran-karma : To hypnotize someone.

5. Aakarshan-karma : To please one who is disappointed or to turn him back.

6. Maran-karma : To kill somebody.

In fact, these Shatkarmas are the malpractices. The True Saints don't admire them. They condemn it; but these sciences are still in practice especially in India. Gurubani strictly condemns these kind of all malpractices.

Have a nice day!
